FARMINGTON, Maine — A Maine man charged with manslaughter in connection with the death of his girlfriend’s 17-month-old boy is out on bail.
David Cook of Wilton was being held in connection with the death of the child who was in his care at the time of his injuries. Franklin County Jail officials say Cook, who’s 25, posted $100,000 worth of property and was released Tuesday.
Cook told police the child, Matteo Hanson, fell down a flight of stairs, but an autopsy revealed that the child’s injuries were consistent with being kicked and punched. Hanson’s body also showed signs of prior injuries, including skull and rib fractures.
