BANGOR – Everett O. Pederson, 78, died unexpectedly Jan. 12, 2009, at his home. He was born March 30, 1930, on the family farm in Grinnell, Iowa, son of Parn O. and Sylvia (Keeton) Pederson. Everett was a 1947 graduate of Grinnell High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1948 to 1950, and was stationed at Dow Air Force Base, Bangor. Everett was a member of Bangor Fire Department from 1960 until 1984, retiring as a captain. He served in the 115th Maine House of Representatives, and was greatly involved and was serving on the board of directors of Community Health and Counseling Services from 1987 until the time of his death. Everett was also tremendously involved with Bangor Job Corps and served on the Maine Board of Retirees. Surviving are his eldest son, Gary of Newton, Mass.; youngest son, Ian; the mother of his children, Joan, both of Bangor; two sisters, his twin sister, Evelyn Mitchell of Yuma, Ariz., and Mary Gardner of Boone, Iowa; and a brother, Robert of Sarasota, Fla. He was predeceased by his son, Jeffrey. A memorial service will be held 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 19, at Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie No. 3177, Atlantic Avenue, Brewer. A gathering for family only will be held Tuesday at Brookings-Smith Family Center, 163 Center St., Bangor.
