ADDISON – Stanley Lewis Flaherty, 81, died Jan. 17, 2009, surrounded by his loving family at a Machias hospital. He was born Jan. 25, 1927, in Cumberland, the son of Gerald and Hattie (Allen) Flaherty. He was a U.S. Navy veteran who served during World War II. He was a member of Tuscan Lodge No. 106 AF & AM of Addison. Stanley was an avid outdoorsman, he was meticulous as to the appearance of his lawn and home, loved playing cards, watching Wheel of Fortune, flying and especially loved to hunt and spend time with his grandchildren, who were his pride and joy. He is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, who he was proud and thankful for all the loving care and joy that she brought to his life, Gloria (Ramsdell) Flaherty; four children, Deborah Pendleton, Dean Stanley Flaherty and his wife, Paula, Linda Blackwood and her husband, John, and Tracy Ramsay and her husband, Ronald; 10 grandchildren, Matthew Pendleton, Aaron Groder, Michelle Flaherty, Michael Anderson, Jodi Hannaman, James Stanley Blackwood and his fianc?e, Amy Nason, Carrie Jo Blackwood, Drew and Taylor Lewis and Anna Ramsay; several great-grandchildren; two brothers, Roland and Donald Flaherty; several nieces and nephews; and a special brother-in-law, Everett Ramsdell. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one sister, Hazel Matthews. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, at Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, Milbridge, where a funeral service will be celebrated 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21.
