BREWER – Everett S. Hatch, 81, husband of Joan F. (Clement) Hatch, died Jan. 19, 2009, at a Bangor health care center, after a brief illness. He was born March 7, 1927, in Presque Isle, the son of Preble D. K. and Marion E. (Johnson) Hatch. Everett was a graduate of Fryeburg Academy and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a longtime resident of Brewer and worked most of his life in the credit industry. Everett loved to ski, an outdoor activity he enjoyed for 70 years. Surviving, in addition to his wife of Brewer, are two children, Elizabeth Beers and her husband, Richard, of Raymond, and Janice Kilroy of Brewer; one grandson, the “apple of his eye,” Konlon Everett Kilroy of Brewer; a cousin, Cynthia Wacome of Norridgewock; three sisters-in-law, Louise Balstad of Connecticut, Alice Bower and her husband, Ray, of Florida, and Frances Mishou and her husband, Kenneth, of Old Town; one brother-in-law, Stephen Clement and his wife, Ann, of Florida; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; and a brother, Philip Hatch. Everett’s family thanks the staff of the Maine Veterans’ Home, B unit, for their excellent care. A service honoring Everett’s life will be held 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St., Brewer, where family and friends may visit 11:30 a.m. until the service begins. The Rev. Rex Garrett, director of Eastern Maine Medical Center chaplaincy services, will preside. Burial will be at a later date at the Maine Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Mount Vernon Road, Augusta.
