UNION – Priscilla D. Beebe, 89, a resident of Woods Road, and a former longtime resident of Maynard, Mass., died Sunday, Jan. 18, 2009, at Pen Bay Medical Center, Rockport, after a brief illness. Mrs. Beebe was born Jan. 5, 1920, in Sagamore, Mass., daughter of Edward E. and Edna Small Davis. She was a graduate of Bourne (Mass.) High School, Class of 1938; attended Bates College, Lewiston, for two years and graduated from Boston University, Class of 1942. In 1943, she married Edmund Beebe and together they made their home Maynard, Mass., where she was employed with Middlesex County 4-H as an extension agent, retiring in the mid-1970s after more than 25 years with them. She also co-owned Custom Creations, Stow, Mass., for three years. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an avid Red Sox fan, an active volunteer, serving as a past PTA president in Maynard, Mass., a band parent member, a Methodist Youth Fellowship leader, driving people who could not drive to appointments, and each year she’d knit 50 to 60 scarves a year to donate to local charities. Even this past Christmas, she donated 23 scarves that she had made. After moving to Maine four years ago, her greatest enjoyment was driving to Cape Cod, Mass., and visiting with her close friends, Betty and Jenny, friends she has had since first grade. She was predeceased by her husband, Edmund Beebe. Survivors include three children, Martha Ellen Hooper and her husband, Clark, of Union, Richard Beebe and his wife, Kathy, of Searsport, and Susan Marcey of Biddeford; three grandchildren, Cleve Marcey and his wife, Tanya, Gabrielle Miranda and her husband, Savio, and Victoria Tyman and her husband, Jordan; and three great-grandchildren, Arianna, Andrew and Isabella. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, at North Waldoboro Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Mark Holden officiating. Interment will be in the spring in Maynard, Mass. Should friends desire, memorial donations may be made in Mrs. Beebe’s memory to Good Shepherd Food Bank, P.O. Box 1087, Auburn, ME 04211-1087. Arrangements are entrusted to Hall Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 949 Main St., Waldoboro.
