MILLINOCKET – Tyler “Buzzy” Emerson, 19, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, Jan. 18, 2009, at a Millinocket hospital. He was born April 2, 1989, in Lewiston, the son of Greg and Karen (Ebbett) Emerson. Tyler grew up in Millinocket and graduated from Stearns High School, Class of 2007. At the time of his death, he was in his sophomore year at Maine Maritime Academy, Castine, where he finally realized he had made the right decision for his career. Tyler loved spending time hunting, fishing, camping, going for rides on the Golden Road in his truck, and participating in any other activity that involved being outdoors. He especially enjoyed his hunting and fishing trips with “Gramp.” One of his goals was to have a big camp in the North Maine woods and a brand new four-wheel drive truck that was bigger than his brother’s. Tyler also loved playing the guitar, much to the entertainment of his family and friends, who will also miss his keen sense of humor and quick wit. Tyler is survived by his mother, Karen Emerson of Millinocket; his father, Greg Emerson of Hampden; a brother, Josh Emerson and his fiancee, Angela Berry; a special niece, Kennedy “Stinky” Emerson; maternal grandparents, Jim and Charlene Ebbett; paternal grandfather, Bob Emerson, all of Millinocket; several special aunts, uncles and cousins, and many special friends, too numerous to list. He was predeceased by his paternal grandmother, Beverly Emerson. Friends are invited to visit with the family 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, at Millinocket Baptist Church, 297 Penobscot Ave., Millinocket, with the Rev. Rudy Homchuck, pastor, officiating. Gifts in memory of Tyler may be sent to the Tyler Emerson Scholarship, care of Claire Daigle, Stearns High School Athletic Booster Club, 54 New Hampshire St., Millinocket, ME 04462, a scholarship fund to benefit aspiring local baseball players going on to college. Messages of condolence may be expressed at www.lamsonfh.com.
