BANGOR, Maine — Three of the four people arrested in connection with the Halloween night armed robbery at the Family Dollar story in Brewer were indicted Monday by the Penobscot County grand jury.
Jesse D. Hatch, 19, of Eddington, Jason A. Goodin, 20, of Holden and Raeleigh Hill, 18, of Eddington were indicted for Class A robbery and theft by unauthorized taking.
The trio and Charles Dion, 20, of Glenburn were arrested by Brewer police on Nov. 26 in connection with the robbery, according to a story previously published in the Bangor Daily News.
Dion is expected to be indicted by the grand jury next month, according to the Penobscot County District Attorney’s Office.
All four are free on bail.
Two men wearing masks entered the store at the Brewer Shopping Center about 7:20 p.m. Oct. 31, Brewer police Capt. Jason Moffitt told the BDN in November. At least one was armed with a knife when they approached the front cash registers and demanded cash, he said. An unspecified amount of money was stolen.
If convicted of the more serious charge of robbery, each faces up to 30 years in prison and a fine of up $50,000.
In an unrelated case, two men were indicted for arson in an incident a few days before the robbery.
Dwayne J. Bell, 23, of Bangor and Jake D. Hesseltine, 18, of Old Town were arrested on Oct. 28 in connection with a small fire at a house on Larkin Street in Bangor that was sparked by a Molotov cocktail in the early morning hours the same day.
It appeared that the fire was started as retaliation for a brawl the previous night that involved 25 to 30 young men, several of whom were armed with baseball bats, sticks and brass knuckles, according to a story previously published in the BDN. No one was injured in the fire, which caused minimal damage to the outside of the house.
Hesseltine has been released on bail. Bell remains at the Penobscot County Jail unable to make bail.
If convicted, both men face up to 30 years in prison and a fine of up to $50,000.
