OLD ORCHARD BEACH and BREWER – Clifford L. Perkins, 62, of Old Orchard Beach, died on his birthday, Monday, Jan. 26, 2009, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House, with his fiancee, Debbie Vashon, by his side. He was born Jan. 26, 1947, in Hampden, son of Leon and Helen (Graves) Perkins. Cliff worked in the transportation industry working for various companies: Perkins Construction, H.D. Smith, Qualey Ranch and R.R.T., Old Orchard Beach. He previously had his own business, Beach Transportation and most recently was employed by Garwin Express, Saco. Cliff enjoyed get-togethers with friends and family, and watching the Red Sox. He loved working in his yard with his neighbor and buddy, Josh, by his side. His dog, Snookie, would ride in his lap when he mowed the lawn. He was predeceased by his father, Leon; and a brother, Morris. He will be sadly missed by his mother; son, Jody and his wife, Michele, of Brewer; a son, Jason and his wife, Jerry-Lynn, of Etna; a sister, Arlene Hathaway, of Winterport; a brother, Phillip and wife, Carol, of Hampden; a sister, Eleanor and her husband, Octavio Zapata, of Lowell, Mass.; his fiancee, Debbie Vashon of Old Orchard Beach; her sons, Timothy Vashon and Adam Vashon and his wife, Jennifer; and grandsons, Jack and Alex Vashon, all of Newport; a special friend, Lisa Marston of Derry, N.H.; many other nieces and nephews. At Cliff’s request, there will be no services. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
