MADAWASKA – Lewellyn Omer Cyr, 67, passed away Jan. 29, 2009, at a Fort Kent health care facility, after a long battle with numerous health complications. He was surrounded by the love of his life, Georgette and a few close family members. He was born June 30, 1941, in Madawaska, son of the late Omer and Beatrice (Lagasse) Cyr. Lew was a master of heating and cooling systems. He also had a successful carpet and upholstery cleaning business, and seafood market. He also worked as a salesman of numerous products for many years. Lew was an avid camper and also enjoyed traveling to see his children and family near and far. He was a collector of most extraordinary things, including novelty lighters, original tin cans and miscellaneous old gadgets. Playing his guitar was one of his passions, as well as helping those in need. He was also an avid motorcycle enthusiast and loved spontaneous trips with no destinations in mind. Lew is survived by his devoted, loving wife, Georgette (Raymond) Cyr of Madawaska; four sons, Michael Cyr and his companion, Connie Weatherbee, of Rochester, N.H., Matthew Cyr and his wife, Patricia, of Korea and Texas, Marcus Cyr of Mesa, Ariz., and Darrin Fournier of Melbourne, Fla.; one daughter, Wendy Dunton and her husband, Winston, of Winterport; four sisters, Betty Ferro and her husband, Maynard, of Bangor, Mary Drinkwater and her husband, Jerry, of Milford, Cindy Cyr of Bangor and his special sister, Linda Hoy and her husband, Eddie, of Clinton, Mass.; his beloved grandchildren, Christopher, Ashley, Elizabeth, Brandon, Destiny, Gary, Tracy, Stacy, Erika and Omar; three great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles; his mother-in-law, Marie Jean Raymond; his brothers-in-law, Leonard Raymond and his wife, Martha, Lucien Raymond and his wife, Emillienne, and Gerald Raymond and his wife, Michelle; and his sister-in-law, Rejeanne Deschamps, all of Ville Degelis, Quebec. Lew was predeceased by his daughter, Maureen Cyr; his siblings, Barbara (Cyr) Drinkwater and Robert Louis Phillip Cyr. A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 6, at St. Thomas Church, where family and friends may give their condolences to the family 8:30 a.m. until the time of service. Arrangements have been entrusted to Daigle Funeral Home, Madawaska.
