ORONO and QUINCY, Mass. – Mary Eva (Ayotte) Harris, 94, died Feb. 9, 2009, at Queen Ann Nursing Home, Hingham, Mass. She was born Sept. 12, 1914, in New Canada Plantation, the daughter of Vitale and Sophie (Corbin) Ayotte. She loved to read and care for her many houseplants. Eva was very proud of her Roman Catholic faith. She resided in New Orleans; Quincy, Mass.; and Orono. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Patricia George; two granddaughters, Carlene George-Adams of Millinocket and Billie Jo George of Brewer; a great-granddaughter, Shannon George of Northeast Harbor; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; her son, Martin “Punk” George; siblings, Joseph “Joe” Ayotte, Helene Pelletier, Maddie Beaulieu, Leona Roy, Gerard “Jerry” Ayotte and Mary (Jean Oliver) Deshaine; and baby brother, Paul Ayotte. A memorial Mass will be celebrated in Millinocket at a later date. Burial will be after in the family plot at Millinocket Cemetery. Arrangements by Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town.
