WATERVILLE – Frank Allen Hackett, 82, died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2009, at a local health care facility. Born July 12, 1926, in Waterville, he was the son of Rhonello C. and Florence (Gove) Hackett. After graduation from Waterville High School in 1944, he served two years in the U.S. Navy. In 1951 he married Eleanor Brennan of Bangor, who predeceased him in 1977. He spent most of his life in the wholesale paper business as owner of R.C. Hackett Paper Co. He had resided at Durbin Apartments and for the past three and a half years was a resident of Oak Grove Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center. In community life he served as past president of Waterville Rotary Club, past president of the board of trustees of Mount St. Joseph Nursing Home, a board member of Waterville Chamber of Commerce and served on the Waterville Hospital Council. He is survived by three daughters and their spouses, Mary Alyce Higgins and her husband, Stan, of Dover-Foxcroft, Florence Vachon and her husband, Tim, of Wimauma, Fla., and Eleanor Corey and her husband, Robert, of Scarborough; two sons and their spouses, Dr. Ernest G. Hackett and his wife, Karen, of Jupiter, Fla., and Frank A. Hackett Jr. and his wife, Mary Ellen, of Frederick, Md.; along with five grandchildren, Brennan, Alina, Ian, Michael and William. The family thanks everyone at Oak Grove Nursing Home for their care and support. Visiting hours will be held 6-9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, at Veilleux Funeral Home, 8 Elm St., Waterville. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 9 a.m. Friday, Feb. 20, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Waterville. Burial will take place later in the spring at Pine Grove Cemetery, Waterville. Donations preferred to Mount St. Joseph Nursing Home, Highwood Street, Waterville. Arrangements are under the care of Veilleux Funeral Home.
