HERMON – Charlotte Parker passed away Feb. 24, 2009, at a Bangor health care facility, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born Aug. 22, 1924, in Bangor. Soon after her birth, her family moved to Hampden where she spent her youth. She attended Hampden Academy and graduated as its valedictorian for the Class of 1942. Her valedictory address was delivered June 4, 1942, the same day as the Battle of Midway. After graduating from Hampden Academy she attended Beal College, Bangor. She also worked for a time for Bangor Daily Commercial as a proofreader. Charlotte would eventually get a job with the U.S. Navy and relocate to Washington, D.C., where she lived and worked until her retirement in the 1970s. After retiring from the Navy, Charlotte returned to Maine, where she lived in Hermon until her death. Charlotte was predeceased by her parents, Harry and Marion Parker; her brother, Harry Parker Jr.; and her sister, Dorothy P. Blaisdell. She is survived by a nephew, John D. Blaisdell of Bangor; a niece, Jane Poisson of Virginia Beach, Va.; and two great-nieces, Amanda Poisson, also of Virginia Beach, Va., and Meredith Poisson of Jacksonville, Fla. The family thanks Pat Robertson, Melanie Cushman, Carl and Marilyn Blaisdell, Linda McNeal and Ross Manor staff for their kindness and support during her illness.
