BANGOR – Madeline Frances Ellsworth, wife of the late Oliver Ellsworth, died Feb. 26, 2009. She was born Sept. 28, 1916, in West Warwick, R.I., the daughter of Ulric and Mary Vanasse. She attended Rhode Island public schools. Madeline received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Rhode Island College and began her 42-year teaching career in West Warwick, R.I. She joined the faculty of Rhode Island College as an assistant professor and spent 15 years as an instructor at its laboratory school, Henry Barnard, Providence, R.I. She taught in West Newbury, Mass., schools for 12 years. She earned her master’s degree at the University of Maine, became certified in special education and taught in the Bangor school system for 12 years. Madeline was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Bangor. She leaves a sister, Louise Tromanhauser in Rhode Island; a brother, Ulric Vanasse and his wife, Eileen, in Florida; nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, at the Inn at Dirigo Pines, Orono. Interment will be this summer at Mount Pleasant Catholic Cemetery, Bangor.
