BANGOR – Frederick L. Dorr, 86, died Feb. 25, 2009, at his home. He was born Dec. 8, 1922, in Bangor, son of LeRoy and Hazel (Porter) Dorr. He was educated in Bangor schools and was a Word War II U.S. Army veteran with the 472nd AAA-AW, serving in the Pacific, New Guinea and Australia. Frederick worked for CH Rice Co., now Jordan Meats, for 46 years. He enjoyed square dancing, traveling and visiting his Army friends on Rosebud Reservation, and spent several years exploring Arizona. Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Lucille (Paulin) Dorr of Bangor; and two nieces, Daisy Hand and Gloria Quimby, both of Ripley. He was predeceased by his parents; a sister, Lena Strout; and his first wife, Thelma Getchell. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, March 2, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. Spring interment will be at Mount Pleasant Catholic Cemetery, Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments immediately after the service Monday at Brookings-Smith Family Center, 163 Center St., Bangor.
