JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Emma E. Gardner, 88, passed away Monday, Feb. 16, 2009. Emma was born in Allagash and lived in Hampden, Belgrade and Jacksonville, Fla. Emma retired after 29 years of nursing from Eastern Maine Medical Center, Bangor. She enjoyed time spent cooking for her and friends, and outdoor activities with her late husband of 63 years, Finley C. Gardner Sr. Emma is survived by her son, Finley Chester “Chet” Gardner Jr. and Kathryn of Macclenny, Fla.; her daughters, Edna M. Robinson and Arthur of Jacksonville, Fla., and Donna J. Higgins and Arthur of Belgrade; a brother, Joseph W. Hafford and Germain; her sisters, Margaret Rodriques and Albertine Brownell; eight grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, March 7, in the chapel of Fraser Funeral Home, 8168 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, Fla., with the Rev. Greg Foster officiating. Graveside services will be held 11:30 a.m. July 25 at Pine Grove Cemetery, Belgrade, with the Rev. Robert Tredwell officiating.
