EDMUNDS TOWNSHIP – Diane “Dee” Phyllis (Clark) Dudley, 60, passed away peacefully March 1, 2009, surrounded by her loving family at a Bangor hospital, after a yearlong battle with cancer. She was born May 25, 1948, in Eastport, daughter of Belle (Small) Clark of Calais and the late Carlton Clark. She worked various jobs throughout her life, but her true passion and profession was raising her children and taking care of her family. She was a strong, kind, caring and humorous person. She enjoyed children, especially her grandchildren. She had so many stories about each and every one of them and she liked to tell anyone that would listen. She loved chatting with people and was always ready to go for a ride somewhere. Diane is survived by her loving husband of 30 years, James Dudley of Edmunds Township; a son, Peter Mahar Jr. and fiancee, Frithann, of Waterboro; three daughters, Andrea Mahar of Hermon, Melissa McLean and husband, Fred Jr., of Calais, and Tabitha Emery and husband, Randy Jr., of New Portland; and a special son-in-law, Daniel Mower of Bangor. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Vanessa Mower, Melinda McLean, Katlyn and Peter Mahar III, Willow and Autumn Emery; a brother, David and wife, Mary, of Missouri; and two special aunts, Jane Morgan of Pembroke, and Mary Foster and husband, Dana, of Wells. Diane is also survived by a mother-in-law, Carolyn (Clark) Dudley of Pembroke; two sisters-in-law, Linda Church of Pembroke and son, Michael, of Las Vegas, and Carol Hall and husband, Peter, of Jonesport; and by many other family members including nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends. She was predeceased by her first husband, Peter Mahar Sr.; a father-in-law, Clayton Dudley; and a special uncle, Delman Morgan. A service of remembrance will be celebrated 1 p.m. Saturday, March 7, at Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, Cooper Street, Machias, with Father Scott Mower officiating. A graveside service will take place in the spring.
