WINTERPORT – Tommy V. Mooers, 48, passed away March 2, 2009, at his home, in the presence of his loved ones after a long, courageous battle with cancer. He was born Nov. 17, 1960, in Ellsworth, the son of Dean Mooers Sr. and Jean Washburn. Tommy graduated from Bangor High School in 1979. He spent most of his adult life as a local businessman. He had a passion for New England sports, fishing and traveling. Tommy will be remembered by those who loved him for his caring and loving personality, along with a sense of humor that could make anyone smile. Tommy is survived by his loving partner, Katie and their dogs, Bean and Razor; daughter, Jenna Mooers of Portland; siblings, Dean Mooers Jr. of Winterport, Levine Mooers of Winterport and her sons, Stephen and Joshua, Paul Mooers of Bangor and his sons, Joshua and Christian, Leonard and Michelle Amore of Colorado and their daughters, Victoria and Michela; foster sister, Barbara Tunks of LaGrange; aunts and uncles, Linda and Everrett Amore of Oklahoma and their children, Jared and Misshay, and Lorraine Mooers of Ellsworth. He was predeceased by his paternal and maternal grandparents, Vaughn and Ruth Mooers, and Norman and Robena Thompson; stepson, Benjamin Johnson; and uncle, Barry Mooers. Per Tommy’s request, there will be no formal services, but a private memorial will held in the fall at his favorite place, Bar Harbor.
