BROOKSVILLE – Ellen “Gram” Snow, 79, died March 1, 2009, at Courtland Rehab, Ellsworth, after a long illness. She was born May 1, 1929, to Edgar and Alice (Hodgkins) Carter of Hampden and Searsport. Ellen attended the Conservatory of Music, where she met and married Walter A. Snow of Stonington. Together they taught in many of the area schools. Upon retirement from teaching, Ellen was a clerk at a local store and greenhouse for more than 35 years. Ellen is survived by two daughters, Susan Bake and husband, Mark, of Brooksville and Elizabeth Snow of Brooksville; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; a special friend, Arlene Labrie; and many friends throughout the community. Her family thanks all the dedicated staff at Courtland for their care and comfort. A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, March 13, at Mount Rest Cemetery. In case of inclement weather, the service will be held at the Brooksville townhouse.
