MILLINOCKET – F. Harvey Bowley Jr., died unexpectedly March 1, 2009, at his home. Harvey was born April 29, 1946, in Bangor, the son of Frank Harvey Bowley and Maida (Goodwin) Bowley. Harvey graduated from Old Town High School in 1964. He then attended Higgins Classical Institute in 1965 and from there, he went on to graduate from Beal College, Bangor, in 1967. Harvey joined the Navy in 1967. After his duty in the Navy, he worked at Maine Information Systems, Bangor, for four years. Harvey finally settled in Millinocket at Great Northern Paper Co. for the next 30-plus years. He was involved in many clubs and activities in the Katahdin region, and was a very active member and a past master of Nollesemic Lodge No. 205, AF & AM, Millinocket and Mount Katahdin Chapter R.A.D. No. 60. Harvey enjoyed spending time with his family, his dogs, hunting, fishing and taking his beloved wife for weekend back road rides to restaurants in Maine. Harvey will always be remembered as a wonderful caring family man with a unique sense of humor. All whom he touched will miss him dearly. Harvey is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Karen (Beals) Bowley of Millinocket; three children, Melissa Englesberg and her husband, David, of West Palm Beach, Fla., Frank Bowley III and wife, Jessica, of Millinocket and Jonathan Bowley of Millinocket; two grandchildren, Ryan and Megan Englesberg of West Palm Beach, Fla.; a sister, Diane and her husband, Francis “Red” Bouchard; and two very close cousins, Robert Hughes and wife, Joanne, of Corinna and Tharon “Bud” Bowley and wife, Barbara, of Bowdoinham. Friends are invited to visit with the family 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday, March 13, at Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 14, at Millinocket Baptist Church, 297 Penobscot Ave., Millinocket, with the Rev. Rudy Homchuck, pastor, officiating, concluded by a Masonic funeral service, conducted by the officers and members of Nollesemic Lodge No. 205.
