MILFORD and WAKEFIELD, Mass. – Dorothy “Dot” Yelland, 87, wife of the late Kenneth E. Yelland, died peacefully March 6, 2009, at the residence of her daughter. She was born Nov. 18, 1921, in Boston, the daughter of John T. and Olive (Haskell) Trainor. Dot will be fondly remembered for her fun-loving, gentle and ever charismatic personality. Her zest for life and sense of humor brightened everyone’s day. She loved to sing, eat out, go shopping and visit with friends. After retirement she loved bowling, bingo and spending time at the Senior Center. She resided in Wakefield, Mass., for 48 years before moving to Maine with her husband in 2001. Dot is survived by a son, Dr. Kenneth T. Yelland and his wife, Janice, of Wellesley, Mass.; a daughter, Dr. Linda M. Yelland of Milford; close family friend, Kathy McAuliffe of Milford; special caregivers, Lynne Jordan, Melissa Jordan and Gwen Moore, all of New England Home Health Care; close friend, Ruth Kish; and a special little girl named Emma who called her “Grammy Dot.” She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Kenneth E. Yelland, July 20, 2005. She was also predeceased by her six brothers, Thomas Trainor and his wife, Alice, Owen Trainor and his wife, Dorothy, William Trainor and his wife, Catherine, Edward Trainor and his wife, Dorothy, Lawrence Trainor and his wife, Helen, and James Trainor. At her children’s request, there will be no services at this time.
