LAKELAND, Fla. – Don A. Stanley, 66, went home to be with the Lord March 5, 2009, due to cancer. Mr. Stanley was born Oct. 13, 1942, in Milbridge, and moved to Lakeland, Fla., 18 years ago from Bangor. He was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church. Don worked at GTE Sylvania, Bangor, for 15 years. In Lakeland, Fla., he worked for Montgomery Ward and Residence Inn. Don especially enjoyed his grandchildren and treasured his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Alice; son, Eric and Jennifer Stanley of Bangor; daughter, Jennifer and Marshall Lord of Lakeland, Fla.; brothers, Robert and Nancy Leighton of Hampden and Philip and Betty Leighton of Spring Branch, Texas; sister, Elena Leighton of Bangor; five grandchildren, Maggie, Kassie, Jeremy, Amanda and Matthew; brothers-in-law, Lewis and Linda Soper of Orland, Lawrence and Sheila Soper of Bucksport, Scott and Kathy Chambers of Winterport, Marshall Chambers of Bucksport and Michael Garreans of Lakeland, Fla.; many beloved nieces and nephews; and a favorite, Aunt Ruth of Belgrade. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, March 9, at Cornerstone Baptist Church.
