OLD TOWN – Miriam Allegra Thibodeau, 90, died peacefully March 5, 2009, at a Bangor health care facility. She was born Oct. 16, 1918, in Old Town, a daughter of Asa J. and Miriam E. (Grangel) Bell. Allegra grew up in Great Works, the eldest of 6 children to Asa and Mariam. On April 19, 1941, she married Harold Thibodeau and they were happily married for 63 years, until his death Jan. 8, 2003. They enjoyed their camp at Chemo Pond. She was a devout member of Holy Family Parish, Old Town. She loved to shop and will be fondly remembered as a “shopaholic.” She is survived by three children, Bryan Thibodeau and his wife, Mary-Ellen, of Florida, Janine Eaton and her husband, Robert, of Milford and Alan Thibodeau and his wife, Barbara, of Stetson; five grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; two sisters, Daphne Bell of South Carolina and Gail Bell of Portland; and two brothers, Durwood Bell of Milford and Verlyn Bell of Eddington. She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Harold in 2003; and a sister, Waverly Withers. A funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, at Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town, with the Rev. Thomas Farley officiating. Spring interment will be at Lawndale Cemetery, Old Town.
