LEE – While being held in the arms of her daughter, Kelly and surrounded by her granddaughters, her daughter-in-law, Tracey, and her dear friend, Jeanette, Coleen Nute passed peacefully March 10, 2009, from this life to the next with the words of her favorite hymn being sung in her ear by her girls. Coleen, wife of the late Faye Stanford Nute Jr., was born June 10, 1927, in Lincoln, the daughter of Fay and Hazel (Libby) McCafferty. She loved days by Silver Lake and the time she spent on Ripley Pond. She enjoyed quilting and spending time with her family. She was a powerful, outgoing woman who enjoyed life and made everyone around her feel special. She is survived by three children, Kris Nute and his wife, Tracey, of Lee, Kirby Nute and his wife, Debra, of Bucksport and Kelly Bowker and her husband, Mike, of Lee; six grandchildren, Mandi Whittier, Lance Whittier and Vicki Peters, Victoria Thornton and her husband, Tyson, Riannon Nute, Cory Bowker and his wife, Tasha, and Miranda Bowker; a great-grandchild, Harleigh Whittier; two sisters, Barbara Delano and her husband, Darrell, and Polly House and her husband, Robert. Friends may call 4-7 p.m. Thursday at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Linda Hatch officiating. Spring interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery.
