OLD TOWN and GREENBUSH – Renabell M. Curtis, 80, went home to her Lord and Savior March 12, 2009. She was born Sept. 22, 1928, in Houlton. She graduated from Houlton High in 1947 and worked at J.J. Newberry during her high school years, as well as participating in the hand picking of many potatoes. Upon graduating, she moved to Bangor and started work as an assistant bookkeeper for Pine Tree Restaurant, Bangor. She later started her career as a dry cleaner/spotter at New Franklin Laundry. Renabell always took great pride in her ability to remove stubborn stains from clothes. Shortly after her husband, LaForest B. Curtis, passed away in early 1976, she was saved, baptized and became a faithful member of Faith Bible Church, Greenbush. She served her Lord in many ways, but her special love was as the missionary treasurer, doing this for more than 20 years. Renabell developed a personal relationship with each missionary by putting a note with each support check she sent out, trying to encourage them in their work and life. When they returned from the field and came to the church, she loved to catch up with them at her home, feeding and housing them as she could. Upon the computer age, she learned to communicate with the missionaries by e-mail. She always loved learning and experiencing new things. Mom is survived by her two loving and devoted sons and their families, Forest Curtis and his wife, Hilda and their two children, Kayla and Brianna, and Robert B. Curtis and his daughter, Jamie. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews that remain from her three loving brothers and sister who went before her, as well as her parents from long ago. She is also survived by her large, loving family at her church. Mom is having her homecoming celebration 2 p.m. Monday, March 16, at Faith Bible Church, Greenbush, with the help of Pastor Carl Smith and Associate Pastor Jeff Tenny. Her church is providing refreshments after the service. We will be having a simple graveside service in the spring at Gould’s Ridge, Passadumkeag.
