HOWLAND – On March 14, 2009, we lost our beloved and cherished husband, father and grandfather. Our world was a wonderful place because of him. Always a kind word, a toothy grin and a hug we could still feel for hours. He was a man who truly loved and was truly loved in return. He always had the ability to find the good and the positive in every situation. Rarely did you leave him without a smile. From the day he met Rae, she was his whole world, his purpose for being. His life was dedicated to the happiness of his “girls.” Vinal S. Stratton, 71, passed away March 14, 2009, at his office in Howland. He was born May 15, 1937, in West Enfield, the son of Vaughn and Susie (Mott) Stratton. Vinal served 17 years in the U.S. Air Force. He sold real estate for 36 years as the owner of Acres Away. In addition to his “bride” of 47 years, Rae (Doughty) Stratton, he is survived by three daughters, Alice Rancourt and Tricia Stratton, both of Passadumkeag and Holly Siering of New Hampshire; five grandchildren, Matthew Rancourt, Chelsea Rancourt – his favorite granddaughter, CJ Stratton, Austin Siering and Colby Siering; a brother, Fred Stratton; several special nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by six siblings, Hugh, Walter, Douglas, Gerald, Wayne and Clara; and his foster parents, Helen and Charlie Madden. Graveside services will be held in the spring at Howland Cemetery with the Rev. Alan Porter officiating. Arrangements with Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. Those who wish may sign an online register and leave written condolences at www.clayfuneralhome.com.
