BREWER – Mary Jo (Spellman) Ford, 51, passed away peacefully to be with her late husband, Joel P. Ford, March 14, 2009, surrounded by her loving family, at a Bangor hospital,. Mary Jo was born Nov. 7, 1957, in Bangor, to William Kelso and Joan C. (Muldoon) Spellman. Mary Jo attended Bangor schools and furthered her education at Beal College, where she graduated as valedictorian in the medical secretary program. Mary Jo worked for many years as a medical secretary at Bangor Mental Health Institute in the medical records department. Mary Jo is survived by her father, William Kelso Spellman; her children, Mandi Ford and significant other, Chad McAuliffe, and Shannon Ford; her grandchildren, Jordan, Mackenzie and Daniel; brothers, David Spellman and wife, Gail, and Tony Spellman; sisters, Sally Thorne and husband, Edward, and Elizabeth Spellman; special friend, Gary Gardner; many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews too numerous to mention. Mary Jo was predeceased by her husband and mother. Mary Jo’s family thanks the doctors and staff of Eastern Maine Medical Center intensive care unit for the exceptional care and compassion shown during her illness, as well as to Julie Commeau for her loving support. A memorial service will be held 6 p.m. Thursday, March 19, at East Eddington Community Church, 1410 Main Road, Eddington, with the Rev. Roger E. Tracy officiating. A reception will be held immediately after the service in the fellowship hall. Memorial contributions in Mary Jo’s memory may be made to the Mary Jo Ford Memorial Fund, care of Brewer F.C.U., P.O. Box 189, Brewer, ME 04401, to assist her loving children.
