HAMLIN – Alma T. Corbin, 74, died March 22, 2009, at a Van Buren health care facility after a long illness. She was born Jan. 27, 1935, in St. Quentin, New Brunswick, the daughter of Henri and Jeanne (Cote) Theriault. Alma was employed as an adult education instructor for SAD 24 for 27 years teaching sewing in Van Buren and Grand Isle. She was an accomplished seamstress and tailor working out of her home for many years. Quilting and embroidery were her passions as well. She also loved to garden and in earlier years she enjoyed painting. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 49 of Van Buren, where she also volunteered for their weekly bingo games. She was also involved with TOPS for many years. Alma was active in her parish, St. Peter Chanel, and for many years was a committee chairperson for the parish mercy meals provided for families after a funeral. In addition to her mother, Jeanne Theriault of St. Quentin, New Brunswick, she is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Norman Corbin of Hamlin; two daughters, Diane Oddy and her husband, John, of Kennebunkport and Paula Dumond and her husband, Patrick, of Wimauma, Fla.; one son, Todd Corbin and his wife, Leslie, of Bucksport; seven sisters, Lilliane Theriault, Jeannette Cayouette and Carmen Theriault, all of St. Quentin, New Brunswick, Georgette Theriault of Montreal, Yvette Theriault and Murielle Theriault, both of Quebec, and Jeannine Theriault of Nova Scotia; three brothers, Patrick Theriault and Richard Theriault, both of St. Quentin, New Brunswick, and Robert Theriault of Quebec; and eight grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Sean Oddy, Dominic and Andrew Dumond, Kyle Burgess, Carson, Chloe and Carley Corbin. In addition to her father, she was predeceased by one son, Robert Corbin; and by one brother, Laurent Theriault. Relatives and friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at Ouellette-Thibault Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church. Interment will be at the parish cemetery later this spring.
