HAMPDEN – Nancy L. Leighton, 68, passed away March 21, 2009, at her home. Nancy was born April 18, 1940, in Bangor, to the late Harry K. and Margaret H. (McCann) Foster. Nancy married Robert Leighton in 1956 and they made their home in Hampden, where they raised their five children. She considered her family to be her most precious accomplishment in life. Surviving Nancy are her loving husband of 53 years, Robert; children and their respective spouses, Kim and Jon Farley, Robert and Colleen Leighton, Barbie and Ken Beal, Lisa and Layne Alley, and Brent and Maureen Leighton; 12 grandchildren, Oriana and Evan Farley, Meaghan and Morgen Leighton, Jillian and Nick Beal, Kayla and James Alley, Brent and Kyle Leighton, Jessica Chenette and spouse, Tom, and Amanda Gillespie. Family and friends are invited to call 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, at Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden. A memorial Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 25, at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 70 Western Ave., Hampden. Interment will be at Lakeview Cemetery later in the spring.
