SINCLAIR – Jeanne Chasse, 83, died peacefully March 22, 2009, surrounded by her family and friends at a Frenchville health facility. She fought a long battle with muscular dystrophy. She was born March 2, 1926, in New Canada, the daughter of Denis and Alvine (Morneault) Sylvain. Jeanne was loved by all for her easygoing, humorous personality. He favorite pastimes included shopping, gardening, going for rides, telling stories, knitting, playing bingo, getting company, singing, going to the Tastee Freeze and preparing meals for family gatherings. She is survived by her son, Norman Corbin and his wife, Katherine, of Palmer, Mass., and their children, Kimberly Ledger and Jason Corbin; one daughter, Carlene (Corbin) and her husband, Richard Martin, of St. David and their children, Denise Dionne, Sarah Helgesen and Shawn Martin; one son-in-law, Roger Levesque of Grand Isle, and his children, Wayne, Dale, Dawn and Jason; one brother, Albert “Leonard” Sylvain and his wife, Joan, of Fort Kent; and by many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, who she loved dearly. She was predeceased by her husband, Ronaldo; and one daughter, Gilda, after her long battle with cancer. She has been reunited with her 10 siblings, Annie Sanchez, Sister Annette, Irene Cyr, Helen, Evette Charette, Theresa, Edwin, Norman, Orelle and Joel. Jeanne’s family expresses their gratitude to the staff of St. Joseph Nursing home for their generosity and love for the past seven years. We are all thankful for all of you who in one way or another went out of your way for our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday, March 26, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Sinclair, with the Rev. Phil Cyr officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in the spring. Funeral arrangements by Michaud Funeral Home, St. Agatha.
