HARMONY – The Rev. Thomas E. Izon, 61, went home to heaven Sunday, March 22, 2009, after a very brief battle with cancer. He has now seen the Lord Jesus face to face. Tom was born Aug. 3, 1947, in Ann Arbor, Mich., to Thomas F. and Roberta (Mangus) Izon. He is survived by his parents; his wife of 34 years, Pamela Speed Izon; his children, Cynthia Izon, Elizabeth Rochette and her husband, Rick and their son, Carson, and Philip Izon and his wife, Tammy and their daughters, Kendra and Audrey; as well as his sister, Kay Johnson and her husband Richard; and four nephews and families. Tom loved to hunt and fish, and work with his hands. He found great pleasure in observing the creatures in God’s creation. He loved his country and was a patriot. He served his country in the U.S. Navy. Tom was a kind husband, a committed father and a delighted grandfather. He often said, “I knew I would love being a grandfather, I just didn’t know how much I would love it.” His passion was for the Lord Jesus and the ministries in which he served for more than 30 years. He faithfully served First Baptist Church of Harmony for the past 13 years and had a special love for his church family and for the community. Visiting hours will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, at First Baptist Church, High Street, Harmony. The funeral service will be held 4 p.m. Thursday, March 26, at Harmony Elementary School, Main Street, Harmony, with the Rev. Ed Sealy officiating. Burial will be held later in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tom Izon Memorial Fund, care of First Baptist Church of Harmony, P.O. Box 5, Harmony, ME 04942. “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his godly ones.” Psalm 116:15
