JONESPORT – Caswell Julian “Cabby” Kelley, 86, passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2009, at Downeast Community Hospital, after a short illness. He was born April 27, 1922, in Jonesport, to Roscoe and Ida (Worcester) Kelley. After graduating from Jonesport High School in 1940, where he was an outstanding athlete, Cabby served in the Navy in World War II. Upon returning from the war, he married Ruth Dobbin in Jonesport, and they relocated to Southern Maine, settling in Old Orchard Beach, where they raised three children. Cabby worked in the auto industry until retiring back to Jonesport, where he worked for the state of Maine as an assistant park ranger for Roque Bluffs State Park. He was an avid golfer and a member of Old Orchard Beach Country Club and Great Cove Golf Course. He had a passion for music and sports. Cabby’s family and many friends will remember him for his story-telling and great sense of humor. Cabby was predeceased by his parents; a brother, Linwood; and a sister, Norma Berry. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ruth; his daughter, Karen Parlin and her husband, Roger, of Westbrook; his two sons, Dana Kelley and his wife, Sherry (Fortin) Kelley, of Old Orchard Beach, and Jay Kelley and his wife, Tracy (Perry) Kelley, of Saco; a sister, Irma Crossman of New Jersey; seven grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, as well as many dear friends.
