PEMBROKE – Jack A. McPhail, 49, passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2009, in his wife’s arms and with his family by his side, at Calais Regional Hospital, after a courageous battle with cancer. Jack was born July 6, 1959, in Blue Hill, son of Joseph and Marie (Skinner) McPhail. He graduated from Shead High School, Class of 1977, and served in the U.S. Air Force. After graduating, Jack started his fishing career. He was a self-employed fisherman for many years on his boat, Bonny Maid. He married his love, Karen Clement, June 9, 1984, in Pembroke. Jack enjoyed fishing, working in his garage, NASCAR, family gatherings, and spending quality time with his family and friends. He will be remembered for his big heart and always willing to lend a hand. Jack was predeceased by his grandmother, Bessie McPhail; and his father-in-law, Philip Clement. Surviving are his loving wife of 24 years, Karen McPhail; his parents, Joseph and Marie McPhail of Perry; four children, Chris Clement of Pembroke, Daryl McPhail of Perry, Erin Newcomb and her husband, John, of Eastport, and Jodi McPhail of Perry; four grandchildren, Michael Sockbeson of Sorrento, Christopher Clement of Pembroke, and Madlyn and Ashlyn Newcomb, both of Eastport; his mother-in-law, Carolyn Clement of Pembroke; his sister, Cindy Ritchie and her husband, Buddy, of Perry; three brothers, Joseph McPhail and his wife, Brenda, of Dennsyville, Richard McPhail and his wife, Tobi, of Eastport, and Michael McPhail and his wife, Robin, of Whiting; sister-in-law, Rhonda Brady and her husband, Scott, of Pembroke; a special nephew, Marc Beal and his family; special friends, Dale and Shelly Griffin of Pembroke; many nieces, nephews and friends.
