BANGOR and JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Leslie Arthur Norton, 71, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2009, at a Jacksonville, Fla., hospital. He was born Aug. 15, 1937, in Vinalhaven, the son of Charles E. Norton and Helen D. Stonman-Norton. Leslie was born into a large family. Leslie worked for many years in sales. He then owned and operated Norton’s Meals on Wheels, as well as Norton’s Ice Cream. He is survived by a daughter, Jo-Ellen Cote and her husband, Matthew, of Old Town and a daughter, Pamela Sanderson and her husband, Kenneth, of Jacksonville, Fla. Leslie has eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren whose photos he took great pride in displaying and showing. He is also survived by brothers, Robert of Rockland and Paul of Florida; sisters, Mary Norton of Thompson, Nancy Hamilton of Connecticut and Lorraine of Florida; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Kimberly Norton of Orono; and brothers, Raymond, Adelbert, Donald and Richard. At Leslie’s request, there will be no funeral service. A private family disposition will be held in the spring.
