VAN BUREN – Omerine K. Ouellette, 55, died March 26, 2009, at a Van Buren health care facility, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born July 22, 1953, in Van Buren, the daughter of Lionel and Marie (Gagnon) Gagnon. Omerine was employed as an emergency medical technician for Van Buren Ambulance Service, and also worked as a waitress for Brookside Manor and Daniel’s Restaurant. She is survived by three children, Steve Ouellette of St. Leonard, New Brunswick, Tammie Chasse and husband, Jeff, of Woodland, and Joey Ouellette and wife, Becka, of Van Buren; three brothers, Lawrence Soucy of Texas, Willie Soucy and wife, Carole, of Mapleton, and Percy Gagnon of Connecticut; six sisters, Roslyn Ouellette and Theresa Violette, both of Connecticut, Jackie Casey of Sanford, Velma Ouellette and husband, Richard, of Connor Township, Genevieve Pelletier and husband, Darrel, of Van Buren, and Jeannine Thibodeau of Eagle Lake; and four grandchildren, Erica, Jessica and Kayla Ouellette, and Alex Johndro. She was predeceased by her husband, Guild, in 2005; a brother, Leo James Soucy; and sisters, Germaine Marston, Kathleen Soucy and Anne Buskey. Relatives and friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. until time of service Saturday at Ouellette-Thibault Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church. Interment will be later this spring at Grande Riviere Cemetery.
