TORRINGTON, Conn. – Mahlon K. “Mike” Worcester, 67, passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 25, 2009, at Hartford (Conn.) Hospital. Born in Calais, he had resided in Connecticut since 1967. He was a son of the late Douglas and Marjorie (Foss) Worcester, both of Columbia Falls. Mahlon had two master’s degrees and was a retired schoolteacher from Maine, Litchfield public schools, as well as The Gunnery. Mahlon was a European history expert, astronomy buff, staunch Republican and Boston Red Sox super fan! Mahlon will be remembered by his loving sister, Lenora Gregoire and her husband, Jerry, of New Hampshire; and his nephew, Douggie Worcester III of Colorado. Mahlon was blessed with four children, Jeffrey and his wife, Elizabeth, of Wisconsin, Kimberly and her husband, Matthew, of Rocky Hill, Conn., Scott of Wisconsin, and Benjamin and his wife, Lisa, of Virginia. The light of his life were his seven grandchildren, Dylan, 22, and his wife, Emily, Erik, 18, Ian, 16, Kirstyn, 12, Joshua, 10, Ethan, 7, and Briana, 2. “Kiss the kids!” were often his favorite parting words! Mahlon was predeceased by his older brother, Doug; his nephew, Louis; and niece, Teresa. Friends and relatives are invited to attend a celebration of Mahlon’s life 9:30 a.m. Friday, March 27, at First Church of Christ, 250 Main St., Old Wethersfield, Conn.
