BREWER – John “Lennie” DeRoche, 83, son of Sarah and Joseph DeRoche, born Feb. 5, 1926, passed peacefully Saturday, March 28, 2009, in Bangor. John was a veteran of World War II, worked at Eastern Fine Paper and Pulp for more than 40 years, and 15 years for the city of Bangor at Bangor Auditorium and Civic Center. He shared many special memories with his hunting and fishing buddies. John is survived by his sister, Louise Courtney of Brewer; nephew, Vincent Courtney and family of Brockton, N.Y.; nephew, Leo De Roche of Eddington; godson, Larry Winchester of Orrington; several great-nieces, great-nephews, stepnieces, stepnephews and cousins. Special people in his life, James Goupee and family of Orrington, Billy and Debbie Murray of Eddington, Anne Butterfield of Clifton and Judy Street of Brewer. John was predeceased by his parents; a brother, Leo DeRoche; a sister, Lucille DeRoche; and loving companion of 35 years, Winona “Winkie” Doucette. The family thanks St. Joseph Emergency Department, CPCU and medical staff, along with Brewer Rehabilitation Center for their compassion and care of John throughout the past two years. There will be no visiting hours. A committal service will be held at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Bangor, at a date to be announced. Those wishing to remember John “Lennie” are asked to purchase a lottery ticket or scratch ticket as he so enjoyed doing so. He would wish you all a winning ticket.
