WASHBURN – Audrey Ruth Bell, 69, died unexpectedly Friday, May 1, 2009, at a Presque Isle hospital. She was born Aug. 13, 1939, in Castle Hill, the daughter of William and Elsie (McLellan) Maynard. She attended Mapleton High School. Audrey worked as a custom interior designer, but was first and foremost a loving mother and wife. She was the mother to six, a grandmother to 15, a great-grandmother to one and a loving wife of 31 years to Robert Arthur Bell. She was a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary and Co-op in Washburn. Audrey loved her crafts and tending to her lavish flower gardens and her home. To say she was a hard worker would be an understatement. She was always on the go and loved to spend time with her family, taking shopping trips and just enjoying life. She was a dedicated and giving friend and was respected by many people, and will be missed by even more. She is survived by her husband, Robert of Washburn; a daughter, Lisa Labbe and her husband, Denis, of Merrimack, N.H.; a son, Shawn Clayton of Bridgewater, Mass.; two stepdaughters and their husbands, Gail and Jerry Burtt of Washburn and Vickie and Randy Thibeau of Hoschton, Ga.; a stepson, Robert Bell and his wife, Lisa, of Brunswick, Ga.; a daughter-in-law, Cheryl Bell of Cape Coral, Fla.; two brothers and their wives, Lloyd and Rowena Maynard of Washburn and William Jr. and Mattie Maynard of Washburn; five sisters and their husbands, Winona and Neil Riley of North Conway, N.H., Fern and Raymond Chasse of Portage, Linda and Paul Brown of Crouseville, Donna and Joe Gahagan of Manchester and Gloria and Joe Jones of Dover, Del.; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a stepson, Steven Bell. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 5, at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle, with the Rev. Michael Shaw officiating.
