MADAWASKA – Germaine (Picard) Guerrette, 95, passed on peacefully May 3, 2009, with her loving family by her side, at St. Joseph Nursing Home, Frenchville. She was born Feb. 18, 1914, in St. Agatha, the daughter of Thomas and Anastasia (Bouchard) Picard. Germaine was a loving and devoted wife, mother, memere, grandmaman and a friend to so many. She had many interests and hobbies during her busy life as a potato farmer’s wife. Gardening, canning, crocheting, knitting and sewing are just a few of the many interests she had, cooking being her very favorite. How she loved to cook and bake. Germaine was a member of Ladies of St. Ann and Daughters of Isabella of Madawaska. Germaine suffered a stroke 13 years ago and had been a resident at St. Joseph’s Nursing Home for the past eight years. Germaine was known for wearing her berets and hats with pins at the home and was always so impeccably dressed. Her “joie de vivre” and genteel personality won many hearts throughout her life. Her family was inspired by her grace, strength, courage and strong faith. She will be greatly missed and her family is comforted that she received her heavenly crown in time for Mother’s Day. She is survived by four daughters, Carlene Pelletier and her husband, R. Tats, of Madawaska, Rita Leonard and her husband, James, of Collierville, Tenn., Geneva Guerrette of Madawaska, and Angie McBreairty and her husband, Mickey, of Fort Kent; one son, Antoine Guerrette and his wife, Solange, of Enfield, Conn.; a special daughter-in-law, Roberta Guerrette of St. Agatha; 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, numerous nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her husband, Edmund Guerrette; two infant sons; her son, Ronald “Bee” Guerrette, who recently died; three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two brothers and five sisters. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday, May 8, at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Madawaska. Friends and relatives may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 7, and 9 a.m. until the time of service Friday at Daigle Funeral Home, Madawaska.
