NORTHPORT – Elizabeth “Betty” C. Clark, 87, died May 15, 2009, at a local hospital. She was known on the CB radio as “Squirrel.” She had an enjoyable life even through sicknesses, which were many throughout the years. Betty was born Sept. 5, 1921, the daughter of E. Eugene and Eleanor (Ford) Curtis. She worked for clerk of courts, Dinsmore Shoe Store and was a waitress at Windsor Hotel. She also worked for Macleod Poultry Co., Kilroy’s and spent 49 1/2 years working with Consumers Fuel Co. She also had a small business for several years known as Betty’s Yarns and Machines. She was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Clayton Clark. She is survived by two daughters, Roberta Munson of Northport and her companion, Jack Clark, of Abbot and Sandra Newell and her husband, Wayne, of Indian Township; five grandchildren, Steven Munson, Carl Munson, Dorothy Barnes, J.D. Newell and Christopher Newell; 12 great-grandchildren; and special friend, Marguerite Fernald of Searsport. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, May 22, at Smart Cemetery with the Rev. Ken Davenport officiating. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Waldo County General Hospital, 118 Northport Ave., Belfast, ME 04915.
