BANGOR and PORT ORANGE, Fla. – Wayne L. Kitchen, 70, died May 5, 2009, in Port Orange, Fla., with his loving wife and family by his side, after a long, courageous battle with cancer and its complications. He was born April 7, 1939, in Troy, Mich., the son of Kenneth and Alice Kitchen. Wayne was employed for 28 years as supervisor of operations and maintenance at Bangor International Airport, Bangor. After being a full-time RV’er for nine years, traveling the U.S., he retired in Port Orange, Fla. He was employed there as a courier for five years for local businesses in the area. He was a member of Rising Virtue Lodge No. 10 AF & AM and Anah Shriners. He was predeceased by his parents; and brothers, Leonard and George. He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years; his children, Lee Kitchen, Kerry Davis and her husband, Don, Ann Miles and her husband, Mike, Rick Spreng and his wife, Kathy, and Rob Spreng and his wife, Bridgette; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and special friends, Jerry and Brenda Swett, Jane and Herb Bragdon, and Bob and Mary Perry. Relatives and friends are invited to call 1-2 p.m. Sunday, May 31, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where a service will be held 2 p.m. with the Rev. Robert T. Carlson officiating, and Masonic services will be conducted by the officers and members of Rising Virtue Lodge.
