MATTAWAMKEAG – Bill White, 50, passed away Sunday, May 17, 2009, at a Bangor hospital with his wife, Jenny, by his side. He was born Oct. 12, 1958, in Baltimore, the son of Dr. Robert Ruhland White and Jane (Preis) White. Bill was a bike messenger in Baltimore City for many years. He graduated from Towson State University in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science degree in philosophy and in 1992 graduated with a master’s degree in professional writing. Bill taught in Maryland and Maine, and loved his work. He and his wife had a dream life in Maine – fishing, cycling, kayaking, playing in the snow and walking in the woods with their dogs, Shemp and Matty. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his loving wife of nearly 14 years, Jenny (Alexander) White of Mattawamkeag; her mother, Ann Alexander; his sister, Susan Serp and husband, Brian; three brothers, Bobby White and wife, Donna, Michael White and Philip White and wife, Stephanie; many dear aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his brother, Sam White. A gathering of remembrance for Maine friends will be held 5 p.m. Saturday, May 30, at the point in Mattawamkeag. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 13, at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Kingsville, Md., with a celebration of Bill’s life immediately after at his parent’s home.
