ST. FRANCIS – Claudette Ann (Jandreau) Ouellette, 81, passed peacefully away May 23, 2009, surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 12, 1927, in St. Francis, daughter of Levite and Rosanna Jandreau. Claudette grew up in a large farm family on the border of the St. John River in the Narrow Gauge. On Dec. 19, 1944, she married Norman Ouellette. They raised their large family on the same land Claudette grew up on. Claudette loved the outdoors. She would often be found in her large and lush vegetable and flower gardens. She had the most amazing green thumb and could revive any plant. She loved to freeze and can vegetables and berries so that they could be enjoyed all year long. She also loved to fish and loved birds. She would feed the birds and watch them when they came to eat what she had put out. Claudette was especially proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her sparkling blue eyes would light up when any of them walked in. She surrounded herself with pictures of each and every one. She loved to cook for them and anyone who would drop by. Claudette would always be able to whip up an entire meal in no time at all for company. She was a wonderful cook and loved to bake and give it to others. Her greatest pleasure often was doing for others. Her door was always open for anyone to come in and talk, have a cookie, whoopie pie or one of her favored Three Muskateers bars. Claudette was an avid reader and loved doing word puzzles. She also enjoyed the Young and the Restless every day. She also loved jotting notes about events happening in the world, her children’s lives and in the area. She kept track of births, deaths and even minute details that were important to her. Claudette will be missed greatly by her family and friends. She brought so much joy to the people around her with her wit, humor and kindness. Music and laughter were very important to her and could usually be found wherever she was. Claudette was predeceased by her loving husband, Norman Ouellette, in 1989; her baby daughter, Connie Lynn, in 1975; her son, Glenn, in 1967; and most recently, her daughter, Sandra, in 2008. She is survived by her children, Claude and his wife, Carol Ouellette, Norma and her husband, Hugh Akerson, Linda and her husband, Wallace Tupper, Levite “Gene” and his wife, Sandra Ouellette, Delmer and his wife, Rhonda Ouellette, Clint Ouellette, Lola Willette, and Greg and his wife, Amy Ouellette; and her grandchildren, Jeffrey, Janet, Jeannie, Glenn, Carl, Mike, Chris, Toby, Kirk, Todd, Melanie, Dellwyn, Julie, Taylor, Hunter, Alyssa, Amanda, Emily, Ellie, Gracie and Gregory.
