MILFORD – Shirley M. Richard, 70, wife of Francis Richard, died May 31, 2009, at an Orono health care facility. She was born June 26, 1938, in Bangor, a daughter of Jules and Margaret (Breau) Fortier. Shirley lived an active life and enjoyed socializing with friends and family during the many summer cookouts. Shirley made many friends and shared much conversation during the operation of “Richard’s Place.” She enjoyed shopping and especially enjoyed the vacations with her husband and with her sister, Charlene and Linwood Vandez. She was a member of the “56” Club, Red Hat Society, Domino Club and past president of the Ladies Auxiliary. She will be lovingly and forever remembered as “Dabooh” by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her husband loving husband of 52 years, Francis Richard; a daughter, Brenda Stetson and her husband, Gary; a son, Timothy Richard and his wife, Diane; grandchildren, Kristy Morin and companion, Corey Tougas, Corey Morin, Shane Richard and companion, Jessie Prue, Morgan Richard, Elizabeth Fraser, Cara Fraser, Gary Stetson Jr., Joseph Stetson, Matthew Stetson and Adam Stetson; great-grandchildren, Evan Richard, Evan Stetson and Joseph Stetson; her twin sister, Charlene Vandez; brother, Jules Fortier and his wife, Mary; very special friends, Sonny Buchanan, Donny and Lynn Madden, Richard and Nancy Blanchard; special godchild, Terry Rolfe; many special nieces and nephews. She was predeceased her parents, Jules and Margaret Fortier; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Daniel and Thelma (Pelkey) Richard; son-in-law, John Morin; and brother-in-law, Linwood Vandez. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday at Resurrection Parish, Holy Family Parish, with the Rev. Bill Labbe, celebrant. Interment will be held privately at St. Joseph Cemetery, Old Town. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 122 State St., Augusta, ME 04330.
