DOVER-FOXCROFT – James Errol Nutting, 78, passed away June 9, 2009, with his family by his side at his home. Jim was born Sept. 8, 1930, in Dexter, the son of Errol and Myra (Bell) Nutting. He grew up in Dover-Foxcroft and graduated from Foxcroft Academy in 1950. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Jim served in Korea from 1953 to 1954. He was in two major battles, Heart Break Ridge and Christmas Tree Hill. He worked at Prides Manufacturing for 30 years before retiring at 65. Jim was most content puttering in his garage, tinkering on his truck or in “daddy’s workshop” building a piece of furniture. James is survived by his wife of 57 years, Alberta (Howard) Nutting of Dover-Foxcroft; one son, Robert Nutting of Deer Isle; two daughters, Patricia Smith and her husband, Clayton Smith, of Dexter and Eugenia Deering and her husband, Bruce Deering, of Ripley; five grandchildren, Wayne Doore III, Barry Deering, Liza Deering, Allison Smith and Torin Smith; eight great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Dorothy Clukey of Hampden, Rosalie Leighton of Dover-Foxcroft and Ruth O’Black of Florida; and one brother, Richard Nutting of Dover-Foxcroft. A graveside service will be held 5 p.m. Saturday, June 13, at Pine Grove Cemetery, Dover-Foxcroft. Family and friends are invited to attend this service. An open house will be held after the service at Patricia Smith’s home, 21 Acadia St., Dexter. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to CancerCare of Maine, care of Healthcare Charities, P.O.
