FORT KENT – Marie (Caron) Raymond Pinette, 99, died Tuesday, June 16, 2009, at a Fort Kent hospital. Mrs. Pinette was born April 28, 1910, at Little Black Lake, the daughter of the late Dennis and Clarisse (Albert) Caron. She worked on the family farm in Daigle, while raising her six children prior to working at Princess Kent, Fort Kent, for many years and at Northern Maine Medical Center. She was a member of Holy Family Church, Daigle, prior to moving to Fort Kent, where she was a dedicated communicant of St. Louis Church. “Memere” Pinette had a passion for card games and would play with anyone who was willing to lose, but especially with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. “Memere Who Pinches” as some of the grandchildren and great-grandchildren often called her, was always with her deck of cards. She has left her legacy with the card game named “Dame De Pic” or “Queen of Spade.” She cherished four generations of grandchildren expressing her love through knitting mittens, sewing clothes for them, quilting blankets and crocheting afghans to keep them warm. Not to forget, her sumptuous meals and famous homemade donuts. The grandchildren and great-grand-children all enjoyed being around her. She is survived by two sons, Lucien Raymond and his wife, Marilyn, of Southington, Conn., and Joseph Norman Raymond and his wife, Charleen, of Enfield, Conn. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Albert Raymond; and her second husband, Ernest Pinette. Mrs. Pinette was also predeceased by four of her children, Marie Mae (Raymond) Drake, Gerard Raymond, Yvette (Raymond) Picard and Rinette (Raymond) Labbe; a granddaughter, Janice Drake Lapins; and a son-in-law, Philip Picard. She leaves behind the spouses of her deceased children, Kate Raymond of Plainville, Conn., Elwin Drake of Enfield, Conn., and her forever, faithful dedicated son-in-law, Emery “Legs” Labbe of Fort Kent. She also leaves behind many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Friends may call 8:30-10:30 a.m. Friday, June 19, at Daigle & Nadeau Funeral Home, Fort Kent. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday at St. Louis Catholic Church, Fort Kent. Burial will be at Holy Family Cemetery, Daigle.
