BLAINE – Nevin Amos Bailey Jr., 75, passed away Monday, June 15, 2009, at Houlton Regional Hospital. He was born Jan. 7, 1934, in Port Clinton, Pa., the son of Nevin and Nora (Snayberger) Bailey Sr. Nevin served in the U.S. Air Force for eight and one half years. Nevin owned and operated Grim’s TV, Hamburg, Pa., from 1963 to 1995. He enjoyed his family, fishing, airplanes, and writing short stories and songs. He also published a biographical novel “Mike,” and his western “The Line Rider” is in the process of being published. Nevin and his wife of 47 years, Elaine, moved to Blaine in 2004 and became members of United Methodist Church, Mars Hill and American Legion William Cousins Post No. 118. In addition to his wife, Elaine (Beaton) Bailey of Blaine; he is survived by four children, Edward Bailey and his wife, Ilene, of Morrisville, Pa., Daniel Bailey and his wife, Katie, of Hamburg, Pa., Margaret and her husband, Ben Yeager, of Temple, Pa., and Harry Bailey and his wife, Bridget, of Mount Joy, Pa.; and 12 grandchildren, Mallory Kolbe, Ashley Yeager, Charles Yeager, Sylvia Bailey, Greta Bailey, Madeline Bailey, Ada Bailey, Kimberly Bailey, Julia Bailey, Adrienne Bailey, Isabella Bailey and Theodore Bailey. He also leaves behind five siblings, Dorothy Grim and her husband, Kenneth, of Hamburg, Pa., Edward Bailey and his wife, Uta, of Eden Mills, Ontario, Canada, Nancy Sweitzer and her husband, Frank, of Summit Station, Pa., Dale Bailey and his wife, Mary Beth, of Easton, Pa., and Wilmer Bailey of Denver; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Janet Bartholomew. A memorial service will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, June 19, at United Methodist Church, Mars Hill, with the Rev. Gardiner Smith officiating. Friends may call 10 a.m. until time of service at the church. Committal services will take place at Northern Maine Veterans’ Cemetery, Caribou.
