BANGOR – Kondwa “KC” Chalila, 41, died unexpectedly, Wednesday, June 17, 2009. He was born July 13, 1967, in Malawi, Africa, the son of Roland “Rollie” and Mary Anne Chalila. When he was 6, the family relocated to Maine. KC was a 1985 graduate of Bangor High School. He loved spending time with his family, listening to music, cooking, entertaining and motorcycling. In 1991, KC opened The Comfort Zone Furniture, which he eventually expanded to three locations that he owned and operated for more than a decade. He will always be remembered as a very loving and forgiving person. His family meant everything to him. He is survived by his son, Andrew of Old Town; daughter, Rachel and her fiance, Calvin, of Old Town; his significant other, Kathy Bubar and her children, Hunter, Ashley, Rebecca and Phill; brother, Ulemu and his significant other, Dee, of Bangor; sister, Bridgette and her husband, Rob, of Bangor; nieces and nephews, Keenen, Kyle, Kaitlyn, Zachary and Jordan; and special friends, Del Clarkson, Robin Machen, and Awa Conteh and family of Bangor. KC was predeceased by his parents, Rollie and Mary Anne Chalila; as well as his grandparents, Robert and Frances Higley. Relatives and friends are welcome to call 5-7 p.m. Monday, June 22, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where a funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, with the Rev. Robert T.
