BREWER and PITTSBURGH – Michael Kieffer, 36, passed away June 23, 2009, surrounded by his family at his home. He was born July 9, 1972, in Pittsburgh, the son of Alvin L. and Rosalie (Lukas) Kieffer. Michael earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 1995. He went on to attain a master’s degree in physician’s assistant studies from Chatham College in 2001. He provided dermatology care at the University of Pittsburgh, Department of Dermatology from 2002 to 2003, and moved to Maine and was employed with Penobscot Valley Dermatology until the time of his death. Michael was a member of Down East Associates of Physician Assistants and on the Impairment/Ethics Committee. He enjoyed bird watching, kayaking, biking and hiking, and fostering animals for Bangor Humane Society. He was predeceased by his father, Alvin. Surviving are his wife, Marcia Troese; one son, Alex Kieffer; his mother, Rosalie Kieffer; one sister, Jennifer Kieffer; and aunt, Marie Lukas. Services will be private.
