FORT FAIRFIELD – Gertrude R. St. Peter, 80, wife of Gerald St. Peter Sr., passed away Thursday morning, June 25, 2009, at a Caribou nursing facility, after an extended illness. She was born Jan. 4, 1929, in Stockholm, the daughter of Hector and Modest (DeRosier) Raymond. She was educated in the Stockholm school system and was married to Gerald St. Peter Sr., May 8, 1945. She had been employed by several area farmers and also worked for several years at the former Birdseye Processing Plant, Caribou. In addition to her parents, Gertrude was predeceased by three brothers, George, Albert and Eddie Raymond; and two sisters, Lillian McKenney and Loretta Thibeau. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Gerald St. Peter Sr., formerly of Fort Fairfield and currently residing in Caribou; two sons, Paul St. Peter of Portland, and Gerald St. Pierre Jr. and his wife, Nancy, of Fort Fairfield; one daughter, Elizabeth Houser and her husband, Norman, of Bosley, Okla.; five sisters and brothers-in-law, Rose and Russell Oliver of Sweet Home, Ore., Deloris and Steve McClain of Bowie, Md., Rita Ouellette of Bristol, Conn., Annie Michaud of Connor, and Jeanette and Louis Dionne Jr. of Cross Lake; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may call noon-1 p.m. Tuesday, June 30, at Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield, where a memorial service will be conducted 1 p.m. with the Rev. Jean-Paul Labrie officiating. Interment will take place after the service at St. Denis Catholic Cemetery, Fort Fairfield. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments will be held after the interment service at VFW Paul Lockhart Post No. 6187, Presque Isle Street, Fort Fairfield.
