ELLSWORTH – Harold R. Conners, 67, passed away June 29, 2009, at his home. He was born June 1, 1942, the son of Stanley H. and Bernice (Dunham) Conners. Harold graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1962. He married Sandra Braley, June 29, 1963, and together they had three children, Scott, Kristin and Amy. In his professional life, Harold held a variety of positions in the fields of insurance, education, employment counseling and social services. In his spare time, he enjoyed a variety of interests and hobbies, which included genealogy, spending time with family, playing the guitar, hunting, fishing, four-wheeling, coaching baseball and softball, watching sports – especially the Red Sox, Celtics and any sport his children or grandchildren were playing, cutting wood on his woodlot and spending time at the log cabin he built in Steuben. Harold was a generous and compassionate man, with a dry wit and fun sense of humor. He took great joy in helping people, whether as a coach, counselor, advocate or one dispensing fatherly and grandfatherly advice. He lived out his faith in good deeds. Family members, friends and strangers alike were frequent recipients of his kindness. It was his great pleasure to lend a hand to those in need. He is deeply missed by his wife of 46 years, Sandra Conners; his son, Scott and his wife, Elizabeth and their children, Timothy and wife, Leeanna, Joshua and Benjamin; his daughter, Kristin and her husband, Richard Scott and their sons, Ryan and Zachary; and his daughter, Amy and her husband, Christopher Boyle and their two sons, Matthew and Luke. He is also survived by two great-grandsons, Kaleb and Cameron Conners. A service of remembrance will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday, July 3, at United Baptist Church, Pine Street, Ellsworth. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments after the service at United Baptist Church, Fellowship Hall. Private interment will be at Otis Cemetery.
